One tick, then a minute, an hour, a day, a month, a year, a decade. Scroll down and fall through all seven. An invented walk: not market data.
01 / 07
The smallest change a price can show. Alone it means nothing; everything else is made of these.
One invented walk, seen through a wider and wider window. Keep scrolling.
What the fall shows
Cover the label and you could not say whether you were looking at a minute or a year. So “a big move” means nothing until the scale is named.
The smallest change a price can show. Alone it means nothing; everything else is made of these.
A handful of ticks, gathered. This is where a candle comes from: where it opened, how far it went, where it closed.
The noise begins to look like shape. Much of that shape is still noise.
Sessions open and close. The range of an ordinary day is what a stop has to survive.
What felt like a storm at the hour is one wiggle here.
Trends appear, and so do the long falls inside them.
Every crisis is a notch. Choose the scale you trade, and judge each move at that scale.
The walk is generated from a fixed seed and belongs to no instrument. The seven names are a way of speaking about scale; they do not claim that this many points make a year. Real markets are not this walk, though they share this property to a striking degree.
