Before you trade it
In depth
USD/JPY is the pair in which the gap between two countries’ interest rates shows most plainly. Japan kept interest rates at or near zero for most of three decades, which made the yen the currency the world borrowed in order to hold higher-yielding assets elsewhere. It is also the major pair in which a government has most often stepped into the market itself.

The cost of a trade is the spread, any commission, and financing for each night it is held. The Cost Lab works the three out for a day trade, an overnight position and a longer hold, from figures you enter. A complete total also needs the swap rates, which are not yet published; the Lab shows which input is missing instead of a total that only looks complete.
Work it out in the Cost LabTrading foreign exchange on margin carries a high level of risk, and may not be suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to trade foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.
