In plain language
Sizes are quoted in lots so that a platform and a trader mean the same quantity. For a currency pair one standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency by convention. A mini lot is a tenth of that and a micro lot a hundredth, so 0.01 lots and one micro lot are the same thing said two ways.
The ratios between standard, mini and micro never change. What a standard lot contains does: a lot of gold is counted in ounces, a lot of a share CFD in shares, and the number differs from one instrument and one broker to another. That is why the contract size is an input here, taken from the published contract description for the instruments this site lists and from your own platform for anything else.
Multiply the units by a price and the result is the notional value: the full value of what the position controls. Margin is a fraction of that figure and profit and loss are calculated on all of it, which is the reason to know it. The page supplies no price; the notional value appears when you type one.
